ECM premieres at Bergamo Festival

"Contaminazioni Contemporanee" is the title of a festival of contemporary music held in Bergamo/Italy on April 21-23. The programme has a strong ECM focus:
The Hilliard Ensemble delivers a homage to Arvo Pärt at the Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore at 21.00 on Friday, April 21st.

The François Couturier quartet gives the world premiere of its new project "Nostalghia - Song for Tarkovsky" at the Teatro G. Donizetti at 21.00 on Saturday, April 22nd. The quartet features Couturier on piano, Jean-Louis Matinier on accordion, Anja Lechner on Violoncello, and Jean-Marc Larché on soprano saxophone. The group has already recorded for ECM, and its debut album will be issued this autumn.

Earlier on Saturday at 18.00 at the Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore, Christopher Bowers-Broadbent gives an organ recital with music of Pärt, Messiaen, Tüür, Volans, and more.

On Sunday, April 23rd, at 21.00 in the Teatro G. Donizetti,the European premiere of Tigran Mansurian's "Ars Poetica" takes place, with the Armenian Chamber Choir under the direction of Robert Mlkeyan, as on the forthcoming ECM New Series release (ECM 1895).

At 18.00 in the Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore, Anja Lechner and Vassilis Tsabropoulos play music from their critically acclaimed album "Chants, Hymns and Dances"(ECM New Series 1888) with music of Gurdjieff and Tsabropoulos.

For the duration of the festival, the Museo Bernareggi will host an exhibition of photos by Roberto Masotti: "Arvo Pärt - un ritratto".
