ECM Artists in Bergamo

From March 30 to April 1, Bergamo’s Teatro Donizetti is the setting for a contemporary music festival –Contaminazioni Contemporanee – whose programme highlights aspects of music on ECM.

On March 30 Greek vocalist Savina Yannatou and her band Primavera en Salonica play songs from their albums “Sumiglia” and “Terra Nostra” plus new repertoire.-

On March 31, the focus is on Austrian composer Thomas Larcher, as the Rosamunde Quartett intersperse his string quartets with those of Schubert. The evening’s programme:
Thomas Larcher: Cold Farmer. String quartet (1990); Franz Schubert – Ouverture for string quartet c Minor, D8a; Thomas Larcher: Ixxu. String quartet (1998-2004) Franz Schubert: Der Tod und das Mädchen. String quartet d Minor, D531. “Cold Farmer” and “Ixxu” receive Italian premiere performances.

Also on March 31, the Tunisian/French Anouar Brahem Trio with François Couturier and Jean-Louis Matinier and music from “Le pas du chat noir” and “Le voyage de Sahar”.

The festival closes on April 1 with the Italian premiere of Czech composer Vladimír Godár’s cantata “Mater” with singer Iva Bittová, Miloš Valent on violin and viola; the chamber orchestra Solamente Naturali; the Bratislava Conservatory Choirn led by Dušan Bill, and conductor Marek Štrync.
