András Schiff receives the Italian "Franco Abbiati Music Critics' Prize" for his Beethoven cycle and Gianluigi Trovesi's "Vaghissimo Ritratto" is awarded the quarterly "Prize of the German Record Critics"

The National Association of Italian Music Critics has awarded András Schiff the "Franco Abbiati Musical Critics' Prize" for 2006 in the soloist category. The 26th edition of the award has been presented to Schiff for "the stylistic coherence, musical continuity and interpretative fantasy manifested in the integral performance of the Beethoven Sonatas, (which are) played in chronological order according to an illuminated, stylistically-executed intension,..." András Schiff has performed this Beethoven cycle in various Italian cities to great public and critical acclaim, and ECM has documented the cycle in Zurich, the final tap of his performances of the cycle in major European cities.

The jury of the "Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritiik" (Prize of the German Record Critics), has awarded "Vaghissimo Ritratto" of Gianluigi Trovesi, Umberto Petrin and Fulvio Maras (ECM 1983) recognition as "one of the artistically outstanding new releases of the recording industry in the past quarter", and therefore admits it to the list of best recordings of the second quarter of 2007.
