Silvestrov: Stille Musik in Munich on September 19th

“Stille Musik” is the headline of a special concert held on the occasion of Valentin Silvestrov’s 70th birthday in Munich with a programme of piano pieces, chamber music and works for string orchestra.

Performers are Valentin Silvestrov (in a rare appearance as solo pianist), the Rosamunde Quartett, Alexei Lubimov, and the Munich Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Alexander Liebreich. The venue is the Allerheiligenhofkirche der Residenz in Munich, and the date is Wednesday, September 19. Concert begins at 8 o’clock.

Tickets are on sale now from München Ticket and the Ludwig Beck store

Other Silvestrov birthday events are taking place in Kiev (with premieres of new choral and orchestral pieces), Moscow (concerts organized by Alexei Lubimov), and Pannonhalma in Hungary (again with Lubimov, plus András Keller as both violinist and conductor of the Budapest Chamber Symphony.)

Also in September, ECM New Series issues Valentin Silvestrov’s “Bagatellen und Serenaden” which also features the composer as piano soloist, as well as Alexei Lubimov and the Munich Chamber Orchestra (under Christoph Poppen’s direction), and repertoire comprised of premiere recordings.

ECM recordings dedicated to the music of the great Ukrainian composer include “Leggiero, pesante”, “Requiem for Larissa”, “Metamusik/Postludium”, “Silent Songs” and “Symphony No. 6”. His compositions can also be heard on Alexi Lubimov’s “Der Bote” and “Misterioso” and on Ingrid Karlen’s “Variations”.
