Galasso Tribute in New York

Eleven performances of Heiner Müller’s “Quartett”, staged by Robert Wilson and with actress Isabelle Huppert in the lead role, will be given at the Brooklyn Academy of Music beginning on November 4. Wilson is dedicating the performances to the memory of violinist/composer Michael Galasso, who wrote the music for “Quartett”, and was an important artistic ally for decades. Michael Galasso died in Paris on September 9, aged 60.

Galasso was also much involved with scoring of films, his soundtrack for Martin Provost’s “Séraphine” winning the César Award in Paris for Best Original Film Score in February 2009. His two ECM recordings are “Scenes” (recorded 1982) and “High Lines” (recorded 2002-2004).
