Köln Concert for Grammy Hall of Fame

Keith Jarrett’s “The Köln Concert” is amongst the recordings newly inducted by The Recording Academy into the Grammy Hall of Fame. Established in 1973 by the Academy’s National Trustees, the collection, displayed at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles, was created to “honor recordings of lasting or qualitative historical significance”.

Jarrett’s 1975 solo piano improvisation joins a heterogeneous but distinguished group of inductees that this year includes recordings of Bill Evans at the Village Vanguard, Duke Ellington playing “Ko-Ko”, Blind Willie Johnson’s “Dark Was The Night, Cold Was The Ground”, the Beatles singing “Penny Lane”, and Hank Williams’s “Lovesick Blues”.
