ICMA Award for András Schiff

András Schiff’s recording “Geistervariationen”, with piano music of Robert Schumann, has won the International Classic Music Award (ICMA) 2012 as Recording of the Year in the Solo Instrument category. As ICMA President Remy Franck points out the Jury is honoring "outstanding performances, András Schiff proves highly sensitive and totally lucid in lending Schumann's piano works an ideal clarity of line and texture. With his extraordinary intellectual focus and a very natural sontaneity he captures the particular intimacy of the music”. Prizes will be presented in an Award Ceremony in Nantes at La Cité, the city' Congress and Cultural Center, on the 15th of May 2012.

The International Classical Music Awards jury is comprised of music critics from leading classical magazines, online services and radio stations: Crescendo (Belgium), Fono Forum (Germany), Gramofon (Hungary), IMZ (Austria), MDR-Figaro (Germany), Musica (Italy), Musik & Theater (Switzerland), Orpheus Radio (Russia), Pizzicato (Luxembourg), Radio 100,7 (Luxembourg), Resmusica.com (France), Scherzo (Spain), Viva Classica (Finland) and Andante (Turkey).
