EDISONS FOR KURTÀG & ZEHETMAIR

Last year, Kim Kashkashian’s thrilling account of Berio’s “Voci” received an Edison Classical Award.

Now, two more New Series recordings have qualified for this important Dutch prize.

Edison Award winners 2004 are the Zehetmair Quartet, for their recording of Robert Schumann’s String Quartets 1 & 3 (Chamber Music Album of the Year – here the Edison jury agrees with many other authorities), and György Kurtág, for his “Signs, Games and Messages” (Best Contemporary Music Recording). The Kurtág album, too, has received many awards, including the Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik, Jahrespreis. “Signs, Games and Messages” was also Grammy-nominated.

An Edison Gala Concert will be held on June 4th at the Amsterdam Concertgebouw. The entire event will be broadcast by NPS/AVRO national television in the Netherlands.
