ECM exhibition in Seoul is great public success

The exhibition „Think of your Ears as Eyes“ in the South Korean capital of Seoul continues to attract enthusiastic visitors from all over Asia, and has also met with great attention in the country’s media.

The exhibition which takes up five floors at Seoul’s Ara Arts Center runs through November 3rd, has been designed by South Korean curators, and showcases the works of musicians, artists, photographers and filmmakers assciated with ECM.
Visitors can peruse artworks and photographs, see films as well as listen to a wide range of music and exclusive interviews of artists in several “listening zones” throughout the exhibition.
“Think of your Ears as Eyes” is the first exhibition on ECM in Asia and it takes a broader look on the label than the highly acclaimed exhibition “ECM - A Cultural Archaeology” shown in Munichs Haus der Kunst last winter which focussed on ECM’s early years.

The first week of the Korean exhibition was accompanied by a music festival featuring concerts with Kim Kashkashian, András Schiff, Myung-Whun Chung, Heinz Holliger, Norma Winstone, Ralph Towner and Yeahwon Shin. Kim Kashkashian, Norma Winstone and Ralph Towner also gave masterclasses. Manfred Eicher attended the press conference and opening of the exhibition, and also led two special listening sessions with music of ECM.
