Does ECM audition demo tapes?

No we do not. Nor can we accept responsibility for unsolicited recordings and scores.

Can I buy CDs on your web site?

Yes, you can. You are on the web site of ECM Records in Munich, the only address that can supply a fully comprehensive stock of currently available ECM, ECM New Series, Japo, Watt, XtraWatt, JCOA and Carmo titles.

Are there plans to re-release the remaining ECM titles that have never yet appeared on CD?

There are about 100 titles on ECM and Japo – and a couple of Watt discs – that have not yet been transfered to the digital medium. We still hope that eventually many of these will appear on CD.

However ECM’s primary focus, and that of its artists, is on new work. From time to time there is space in our crowded release schedule to squeeze in one or two back-catalogue items. So we do.

Where can I get a copy of the ECM cover book “Sleeves of Desire”?

This handsome book, issued by Lars Müller Publishers of Switzerland in 1996, is out of print.

Now the book can only be found, infrequently, at secondhand stores or on eBay.

However, in 2007 GRANTA Books of London issued "Horizons Touched", a comprehensive history of the label from many perspectives, illustrated with numerous photos and many album covers.
This book is available from the ECM website ( See 'Books' in the Catalogue section )and good book shops everywhere.
